Heart-related emergencies can happen at any time, including the workplace. According to the American Heart Association, each year approximately 10,000 cardiac arrests happen while at work and account for 13% of workplace fatalities. A survey discovered that 55% of employees cannot perform First Aid or CPR.

With this data in mind, Rathbone Precision Metals is committed to workplace safety beyond following protocols and wearing protective gear. CPR training can save lives during sudden cardiac events, so the company is providing First Aid and CPR training to our dedicated employees who volunteered to rise to the challenge and take on the responsibility of providing the critical first aid needed during an emergency.

Why CPR Training in the Workplace is Essential

Cardiac emergencies can happen anywhere, at any time—and often without warning. In those critical moments, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) can mean the difference between life and death. While many people associate CPR training with hospitals and healthcare professionals, the reality is that its importance extends far beyond clinical settings.

Why Workplaces Are the Perfect Setting for CPR Training

Most adults spend a significant portion of their day at work. This makes the workplace an ideal environment for implementing CPR training programs. Emergencies don’t wait for convenient locations—they can occur in offices, warehouses, or even during meetings. Having trained individuals on-site ensures that help is available immediately, long before emergency responders arrive.

The Life-Saving Impact

According to the American Heart Association, immediate CPR can double or even triple a person’s chances of survival during cardiac arrest. Every minute without intervention decreases survival rates dramatically. By equipping employees with CPR skills, businesses empower their teams to act quickly and confidently in life-threatening situations.

Beyond Saving Lives: Building a Culture of Safety

CPR training does more than prepare our employees for emergencies—it fosters a workplace culture centered on safety, responsibility, and preparedness. When our employees at Rathbone know they have the tools to help, it creates a sense of community and care that extends beyond the office walls.

Benefits for Employers

      • Reduced Liability: Demonstrating proactive safety measures can protect organizations legally and ethically.

      • Employee Confidence: Training boosts morale and confidence, knowing they can make a difference.

      • Compliance: In some industries, CPR certification is a regulatory requirement.

Besides the training, the company has also invested in an AED machine and Anti-choking devices to support employees’ rescue efforts. Training on these devices was provided to ensure everybody is comfortable using these tools as necessary. Though we understand that not everyone is comfortable in an emergency, having a dedicated team is the right choice for Rathbone.
